Johnson Makoti, MA (University of Manchester [Cliff College]) 'Methodist Approaches to Power Evangelism among the Shona People of Rural Zimbabwe' (MPhil, Cliff College), 2012.

Johnson Makoti is an ordained minister in the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe conference. Johnson Makoti started his MPhil work in September 2009 under the supervision of Dr Timothy Yates. The purpose of his thesis is to identify the methods and reasons why the Shona people reacted positively to power evangelism but the Methodist church in Zimbabwe seems to control and legalise ways, means and methods on power evangelism. To reach the intended goal the study endeavours to trace if there was ‘Power Evangelism’ within the Methodist revival of the eighteenth century. If so, what was the response of the Church of England to this method?
