'John Wesley’s Sources and Theology for Works of Mercy'

Hunter completed his doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr Thomas Noble and Dr. Geordan Hammond. His research explores John Wesley's appropriation of the Roman Catholic works of mercy tradition for his ministry as well as the history of the works of mercy tradition throughout church history.  

Hunter has taught as an adjunct and visiting professor for Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, Evangeline Booth College, and Trevecca Nazarene University.

Publications include contributions and work as an editor for various projects of the publishing house known as The Foundry.

He currently serves as the Chair for the Georgia District Board of Studies and on the Board of Trustees for Trevecca Nazarene University.

Pastor Hunter has served as Lead Pastor at Chattanooga Valley Church of the Naarene since 2019.

He previously pastored the Mosaic Church outside of Atlanta and served as a youth pastor for eleven years in Kentucky, Alabama, and Ohio. During an interlude from pastoral ministry he served as the Executive Director of the ecumenical East Nashville Cooperative Ministry.

Hunter is passionate about introducing Christians to various expressions of the Christian faith outside of their tradition and equipping students for lives of service and leadership within the local church.

Current research interests include convergent forms of Christian worship and how the American funeral industry is reshaping faith.
