Bethany Addington, B.S. (Olivet Nazarene University), M.Div. (Asbury Theological Seminary)
'Heavenly Host or Divine Guest?: The Holy Hospitality of the Triune God in Communion with Humanity' (NTC)
Rev Addington currently lives and works on the campus of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. She also serves as an associate minister at Gethsemane Church of the Nazarene in Lexington, Kentucky; a multicultural congregation worshiping in the Black American Church tradition. Bethany's pastoral service includes hospitality and reconciliation ministries at Gethsemane and in the broader Lexington community.
Bethany is passionate about Christian hospitality as a framework for fostering diverse communities and for developing genuinely mutual relationships across cultural, generational, and socioeconomic boundaries. Other interests related to her project include trinitarian theology, theology of mission, and religious art from around the world. Her project seeks to articulate a theology of hospitality by exploring guest-host dynamics, especially in terms of divine self-revelation as both host and guest in relationship to humanity.
In her free time, Bethany enjoys photography, cooking, and spending time with friends from around the world in her seminary community. She especially enjoys drinking hot chai, learning to cook Asian and African dishes, and learning Chinese, Swahili, and Korean through language exchange with friends.
